How I can help

Here is a fuller description of the services I can help with. If your situation does not fit neatly into any of these, please do call. I am happy to talk it through.

  • Arranging care at home

If you or someone you care for needs support at home, I can help you work out what is needed, find suitable providers, and navigate the funding options.

  • Choosing a care home

I can help you understand the options, visit homes with you or on your behalf, and make sense of contracts and fees.

  • Mobility equipment and adaptations

From grab rails to stairlifts, I can advise on what is available, how to access it, and whether funding is available through the council or other routes.

  • Assistive technology

Telecare alarms, medication reminders, fall detectors — I can help you understand what is available and whether it is right for your situation.

  • Attendance Allowance

Many people who are entitled to Attendance Allowance have never claimed it. I can help you understand whether you qualify and support you through the application.

  • Help with paperwork and correspondence

Letters from the council, forms from the NHS, benefit applications — I can read them with you, explain what they mean, and help you respond.

  • Ongoing support and review

Sometimes people need someone to check in regularly — to review a care package, liaise with providers, or simply be a consistent point of contact.

  • Self-funder support

If you are paying for your own care, I can help you understand your rights, avoid common pitfalls, and make sure you are getting value for money.

  • Mental Capacity Act

If there are concerns about whether someone has the capacity to make a particular decision, I can advise on the legal framework and complete a Mental Capacity Assessment if appropriate.

  • Lasting Power of Attorney

I can explain what an LPA is, why it matters, and help you understand the process and complete an application.

  • End of life planning

I can help with advance care planning, understanding what different options mean, and making sure your wishes are recorded and known.

  • Support after a death

Registering a death, notifying organisations, dealing with practical matters — I can help you work through what needs to happen and in what order.
